Donnie Darko: Main on End
The assignment was to create a title sequence based on a film of my choosing. The summer before this assignment I watched Donnie Darko for the first time and was floored. For the audio I used one of my favorite songs, “Nude,” by Radiohead, which I felt was indicative of the feeling of the film.
My concept relies heavily on a mixed media approach involving stamps, linocuts, paper and paint. I wanted my assets to be drawn digitally for ease of animation, but I wanted them to feel hand-drawn. (They were hand-drawn.)
